CRPF Full Form

CRPF Full Form is the official name of the Central Reserved Police Force .The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is known as having the most extensive of all India's Central Armed Police Forces. It is under the tutelage of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India.

The CRPF's primary responsibility is aiding the State and Union Territories in police operations to ensure peace, law and order and to counter insurgency. It has held the reins in anti-Naxal operations in the past five years and has reached milestones that are worth pondering.

CRPF Full Form - A Brief History

CRPF was initially established in 1939 as an official part of the Crown Representative Police in 1939 It is among the oldest Central paramilitary forces (now called Central Armed Police Force). CRPF was established as a response to the tensions and political turmoil within the royal States of India following the Madras Resolution of the All-India Congress Committee in 1936, and the increasing desire by the Chief Representative to assist the majority of the indigenous States to maintain law and order as part of the imperial strategy.

Following the declaration of independence, the force was changed to Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament on December 28th, 1949. The Act established CRPF as an armed force within the Union. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the Home Minister at the time, imagined a variety of roles that was in line to the requirements of a newly independent nation.

The CRPF Rules as envisaged in CRPF Act were framed in 1955 and then published by the Gazette of India dated March 25 55, 1955. Shri V.G.Kanetkar was appointed the first Director General of CRPF.since the time, it has been working tirelessly to create India an improved place and a peaceful abode.
